Where do I access my course materials?
Click on the name of your course in the My Courses panel on the My ELITE screen. You will now be presented with the "Course Menu" on the left hand side of the screen. The menu will differ between courses, but is likely to consist of the following standard options:
- Announcements - select this option to view announcements relating to your course. You can select from the options of announcements made today, during the last 7 days, the last 30 days and all announcements.
- Communication - this option presents various facilities including; an alternative way to access announcements, an alternative way to access your Group Assignments (which are technically called Discussion Boards on the software that powers ELITE), Group Pages (which are not currently in use for students at The College of Law), a Roster which will show all the people enrolled on your course (students and tutors), and access to an email facility, which can be used to email all the people (or selected people) enrolled on your course.
- Group Assignments - this is a facility which allows for asynchronous collaborative study among colleagues, a sort of "chat room". You and others in your workshop group will explore issues of law and practice together but with some guidance from your tutor. Your tutor will notify you if and when you are expected to participate in a Group Assignment.
- Learning Materials - select the learning materials option to access electronic copies of course materials, handouts and textbooks. You should note that some materials may not be released until after sessions have taken place. You also access your Test & Feedback Exercises from here. New to the LPC this year, will be the introduction of interactive tutorials (known as i-Tutorials), which LPC students will receive in CD-ROM format and which will also be accessible from ELITE.
- Tools - this option presents some personal tools such as a calendar, address book, note taking facility (Electric Blackboard) and task scheduling. In addition, you can use the My Grades option to review your Test & Feedback results at any time, and the Digital Drop Box can be used to store your own files/documents.
More detailed information about the use of all these facilities, including how to complete Test & Feedback Exercises and how to participate in Group Assignments can be found by selecting the Help & Support hotlink on the ELITE homepage.
